Dr. Scott Carney, U of R Reception at Fantone Home

Several local University of Rochester graduates gathered at the home of Optikos CEO Stephen D. Fantone, to congratulate Scott Carney, who was recently appointed as the new director of the Institute of Optics. Dr. Carney earned his Ph.D. in physics at Rochester studying with Emil Wolf, “the leading expert in coherence and polarization of optical fields.” He was welcomed by Dr. Fantone, who characterized Carney’s arrival at the Institute as a “homecoming…he understands the culture of the Institute and what made it special to us.” Dr. Carney expressed his excitement and enthusiasm about “working with the best faculty in optics.”
