Optikos Pre-Engineered Microscope Solutions (OPES)
OPES offers market-leading performance and an accelerated timeline
Based on a substantial collection of Optikos® lenses and microscope objectives built over the last 40 years, Optikos® now makes part of its library easily available to customers active in a wide range of markets. Our pre-engineered designs will accelerate the development cycle and, at the same time, reduce the non-recurring engineering charges. We are also happy to work with you to tweak the designs to provide a cost-competitive custom microscope objective solution that is ideally suited to your specific application. If none of the pre-engineered solutions fit your need, we are happy to design what you need from scratch.
Pre-engineered
- Skip the upfront development cost of a custom microscope objective
- Shorten the development timeline by starting with one of our existing custom-designed solutions
- Simulations available without design investments
- Designs are easy to modify to meet your specifications if needed
Library highlights
- Diffraction-limited wide field-of-view designs
- APO, and super achromatic designs
- Paired with tube lenses to fit your sensor resolution
- Wide-field fluorescence designs
Prototyping and production
- Optikos metrology is used for 100% inspection and we provide actual tested performance data including resolution over the field
Tailored by market and application
- Life Science applications including fluorescence microscopy, hematology, flow cytometry, and next-generation gene sequencing
- Semiconductor applications including visual inspection systems for macro/micro feature/wafer defect detection and ellipsometers for measuring layer thicknesses for QA of deposition processes

How to Go to Market Successfully in the Medical Device Space: Pre-Development
The failure rate for medical device startups can be as high as 90%. The question is, why do so many fall short? Is it due to funding challenges, the complexity of the technology, over-commitment coupled with under-delivery, a lack of understanding of the competitive landscape, or perhaps a shortage of engineering experience and manufacturing capabilities? […]
A Review of Optical, Non-Contact Fluid Measurements for Life Science Applications
Optikos has engaged in multiple projects related to non-contact measurement of liquids. Typically, these measurements serve as a quality control (QC) step for an automated fluid handling process. Example projects include: Characterize turbidity (cloudiness) of bacterial samples to evaluate growth rates and populations prior to antibiotic testing Perform a critical, non-contact QC inspection of MRI […]
Coverslip tolerances are an important aspect of your life science imaging system tolerancing budget
High-performance microscope objectives are critical to many life science imaging applications including DNA sequencing, spatial biology, super resolution microscopy, oncology diagnostics, and many other imaging modalities. The microscope objective is usually just one component in a complex imaging system used to achieve high-resolution imaging. Designing these imaging systems often requires a holistic and complex systems […]
