Optikos has a talented group of engineers and we are looking for an exceptional person to join our team. We currently have an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This is a key position within the organization as you will be providing mechanical engineering expertise to a wide variety of projects. Since many of our projects go from concept to production, we are looking for someone who is creative, highly analytical, and hands-on.
Major Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and develop optical systems
- Hands-on involvement in building, aligning, and debugging optical systems
- Review and approve optomechanical designs and drawings by peers in the engineering team
- Meet with customers throughout product development cycle
- Mentor younger engineers
- Support transition of documented designs to manufacturing
- Project management based on experience with optical system design
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years experience in mechanical engineering, 3+ years experience in a field involving precision engineering
- 3+ years experience in managing projects
- Experience with optical metrology and optical assembly is highly desired
- Proficient in the use of SolidWorks
- Experience performing FEA is desired
- Experience working to drafting standards and employing GD&T
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified company
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

| Opto-Mechanical Assembler / Process Engineering Technician |
Looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Technician for an opto-mechanical, process engineering role within our manufacturing group. Must have a minimum 2 years relevant experience in:
- Lens handling, alignment, and assembly, (IR and Visible)
- Optical system and mechanical assembly alignment.
- Detector and Camera focus / alignment.
- Mechanical assembly.
- Work Instruction and assembly process sheet preparation
The above skills require experience using the following tools:
- Autocollimator
- Interferometer.
- Mechanical Indicators.
- Air / Alignment Tables.
- Solder Stations / Crimping Tools.
The ability to interpret technical drawings and process documentation is essential as is
effective communication with Engineering, Suppliers, and Customers.
Additionally, experience with ISO 9001 quality management system is required, both in complying with formal quality system and as an active contributor in creating procedures and work instructions. Lean manufacturing experience and/or medical device experience is a plus.

| We presently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated optical engineer with a diverse skill set to play an active role in supporting our wide range of standard products and services. The successful candidate will be an innovator who recognizes that optical engineering encompasses many different disciplines, and will therefore have developed a strong skill set that includes optical system design, lens design, optomechanical design, electronics design, and some ability to program in either VisualC++ or Visual Basic. This person will also have strong communication skills and will be able to work both independently and as a member or leader of a project team. A postgraduate degree in Optical Engineering or Physics is preferred, although candidates with a bachelors degree in Optical Engineering who have a proven track record of at least five years of innovative work will be considered. Experience in MTF measurement and the ability to use ZEMAX or ACCOS are strong recommendations.
